Featuring Clarry Towers\, Dot Fields\, Jack Ericson\, the Crowdy boys and many others. \nCoast Town is a prize- winning film made in 1939\, showcasing life in Harrington and Crowdy Head using local talent. It was praised by the judges for its unpretentiousness and beautiful photography. \nCoast Town won the first National competition run by the Australian Amateur Cinema Society for films referencing Australian life. Its prize\, a gold cup\, was donated by the Society member\, Bondi bookmaker James Sherlock. \nThe film was shown in 1941 at the Wingham Memorial Town Hall as part of the fundraiser for the Harrington Soldiers’ Comfort Fund. \nAdmission is a gold coin. \nViewings: \nThursday 2nd January 2025\nHarrington Memorial Hall (Corner of Beach and Pilot Street)\nDoors open 4:30pm\nMovie screens at 5pm \nFriday 3rd January 2025\nHarrington Memorial Hall (Corner of Beach and Pilot Street)\nDoors open: 9:30am\nMovie Screens 10am \nRemember your gold coin for admission and see you there!

DESCRIPTION:The John Oxley Bicentenary Celebrations are Proudly brought to you by Harrington Lions Club\, Harrington Crowdy Head Chamber of Commerce and Harrington Evening VIEW Club. To mark the bicentenary of Oxley’s arrival here and crossing of the ‘lake’ there are a number of not to be missed events happening over 3 days. \nSaturday 20th October. \n8.00am – FLAG RAISING CEREMONY\nPilot Hill – High St\, Harrington\nON Saturday morning\, spectators can gather on Pilot Hill before 8am to see the pipe bands and cadets from the army and air force march to the flagstaff. The town crier will call the gathering to order and the Lions members will raise the flags. \n9.30am – STREET PARADE\nThe street parade will commence at the  Harrington Crowdy Marine Rescue base and travelling along Beach Street to the John Oxley Memorial (alongside Club Harrington). Featuring in the parade will be a town crier\, a mount police trooper in period dress\, members of the Light Horse Brigade\, pipe and drum bands\, floats\, school children\, old cars and motorbikes\, community organisations and services. \n* Beach Street will be closed to traffic while the parade is taking place and detours will be in place. \n11.00am  – DEDICATION CEREMONY\nJohn Oxley Memorial – Beach St\, Harrington.\nUnveiling two new information boards detailing the John Oxley Exploration Journey.  \n11.30am – ENACTMENT  \nJohn Oxley Memorial – Beach St\, Harrington.\nHarrington Public School Students will present an enactment of the Oxley expedition’s river crossing.  \n12.00pm – LIONS BARBECUE LUNCH\nJohn Oxley Memorial –  Beach St\, Harrington.\nParade participants and spectators can refuel at the Lions BBQ and for stalls. DESCRIPTION:Following on from a successful 2017 debut\, the Drag-Ens Hot Rod Club will host Rattletrap 2.0 on Saturday\, May 12 at Crowdy Head Beach. \nThe classic hot rods\, vintage race cars and bikes have been hand selected from numerous applicants\, maintaining a historical element to the meet\, right down to flag starts and period dress. Running side by side on the sand on a small section of beach directly in front of the Crowdy Head Surf Life Saving Club\, the action and the atmosphere is easily enjoyed from the sand\, the club or the grassy knoll. The event will include bracket sprints\, grudge matches and an Exhibition Class for unique or historical vehicles. All vehicles must be manufactured on or before 1941 or a purpose built Hot Rod rebuilt in the style of a traditional hot rod\, custom or vintage race car. \nThe racing will commence from 9.30am and go for approximately 4 hour with non stop action the entire time. Dictated by the outgoing and incoming tides\, times cannot be set in stone for each race\, with Sunday reserved as a rain date.
