The Citizen of the Year Awards are presented annually on Australia Day, and recognise local citizens and community organisations who have made noteworthy contributions to our community during the current year, and/or given outstanding community service over a number of years. The recipients of the awards are role models for everyone, inspiring us through their achievements and contributing to the advancement and well-being of our community.

The Harrington and Surrounds Business and Community Association ensures the awards are delivered in an informed, unbiased, honourable and professional manner.

Categories

Eligibility
To be eligible, a nominee must be an active participant within the Harrington, Crowdy Head or Coopernook communities.

Citizen of the Year
The nominee is someone who has demonstrated outstanding contributions, achievements and leadership. Their selfless commitment and involvement in activities promotes the welfare and well-being of our community.

Youth of the Year (12 – 18 years)
The nominee, who is at least 12 years old and no more than 18 years old on January 26, has demonstrated outstanding citizenship.

Junior of the Year (under 12 years)
The nominee, who is under 12 years old on January 26, has demonstrated outstanding citizenship.

Volunteer of the Year
The nominee has delivered outstanding volunteer work for an event or cause in the community.

Volunteer Group or Community Organisation of the Year
The group or organisation has delivered outstanding work for an event or cause in the community.

Sports Person of the Year
The nominee is someone who has accomplished outstanding results either on or off “the field”, locally or at higher levels of participation.

Youth Sports Person of the Year (12 – 18 years)
The nominee is someone who has accomplished outstanding results and who is at least 12 years old and no more than 18 years old on January 26.

Junior Sports Person of the Year (under 12 years)
The nominee is someone who has achieved outstanding results and is under 12 years old as of January 26.
